Our Staff

We have a wonderful team of staff here at Chestnuts led by our Manager and are fortunate to have a high number of qualified staff, eight of which are qualified to Level 3.  In addition we also employ staff to support children with specific needs on a 1:1 basis.

Amy Sharp - Chestnuts Pre-school Manager

Amy is Chestnuts Pre-school Manager and joined us in January 2018. Amy has level 3 and 5 qualifications in early years and management and also an early years assessing qualification. She has 22 years post qualifying experience and has worked in a variety of settings during her career. Amy also has 15 years’ experience working directly with children with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) and closely supporting their families; Amy is also SENDCO and joint LSP (Lead Safeguarding Practitioner) at Chestnuts Pre-school.

Sue Tabb – Chestnuts Pre-school Deputy Manager

Sue Tabb – Sue is Chestnuts Pre-school Deputy Manager and joined the setting as an assistant in 2005. With 16 years of Early Years’ experience, Sue’s additional roles at Chestnuts include Deputy SENDCO, Deputy LSP (Lead Safeguarding Practitioner) and LLP (Lead Language Practitioner) – coordinating the enhancement of language development.

Georgia Watts - Early Years Practitioner

Georgia has recently joined us and has worked with children in other local settings for 10 years gaining a wealth of experience. Georgia completed a BA (Hons) Degree in Children's Development and Learning in December last year. She also has experience working with children with additional needs and safeguarding.

Lindsey Preston - Early Years Practitioner

Lindsey is 3rd in charge at Chestnuts pre-school and a Lead Early Years Practitioner, joining us in April 2005. Lindsey has a level 3 diploma in pre-school practice. She has 12 years’ post-qualifying experience and has worked in 2 other settings before joining us. Lindsey is joint Lead Safeguarding Practitioner and has previously supported the SENDCO for some time.

Kathryn Anderson - Administrator & Early Years Practitioner

Kathryn has been our administrator for the last 13 years. She carries out some administration duties on a Wednesday, including coordinating admissions, funding applications and show rounds. Kathryn is available to show prospective families around on a Wednesday if you are considering Chestnuts for your child.

Sofia O’Connor - Early Years Practitioner

Sofia is an Early Years Practitioner and joined us in the Summer Term of 2018. In her previous role she was a Room Leader and has a total of 7 years’ experience having qualified as a Level 3 (CACHE Diploma) in July of 2011.

Rebecca Harwood -  Early Years Practitioner

Rebecca is a qualified level 3 Early Years Practitioner and also holds a level 3 qualification in management. Rebecca has 19 years of Early Years’ experience and has worked for Chestnuts for the past year and 3 months and has taken on the lead of Equality and Diversity Co-ordinator.

Hannah John - Early Years Practitioner

Hannah has worked at Chestnuts as an Early Years Practitioner since January 2018. She has a level 2 qualification and is currently working towards her level 3. Hannah has 4 years’ experience in Early Years.

Marion Breakspear - Early Years Practitioner

Marion is an Early Years Practitioner and is now a bank member of the team. She is one of our longest serving team members and has also worked here previously as Deputy Manager. Marion has over 20 years of experience at Chestnuts Pre-school and continues to support children on a 1:1 basis as well as covering for team members where required.

Rachel Gammon - Early Years Practitioner

Rachel first joined the Chestnuts team in 2009 and has previously worked as a key person. She now works as part of our bank team, covering for team members where necessary and also working with children on a 1:1 basis where required. Rachel is an Early Years Practitioner and has an NNEB qualification.

Louise Bartlett - Early Years Practitioner

Louise joined us in Spring 2019. She is a qualified level 2 practitioner and hopes to work towards her level 3 qualification soon. She has 3 years experience in Early Years.

Sonia Bath - Assistant

Our assistants have been with us for many years and support the Early Years Practitioners in their role. They prepare healthy snacks for the children and support the children in their learning throughout the session.
