Latest Ofsted Inspection

On the 17th December 2015, Chestnuts Preschool  had their Ofsted inspection and  once again received an Outstanding rating - the highest rating achievable. During the inspection four categories were graded:

  • Effectiveness of the leadership and management
  • Quality of teaching
  • Learning and assessment, personal development, behaviour and welfare
  • Outcomes for children

Ofsted commented that,
'Staff work in very close partnerships with parents and other professionals to provide continuity in learning and care for the children. There is a strong and valued two-way flow of communication'
'Children thrive in a warm, welcoming and stimulating environment. Staff provide children with an extensive variety of interesting activities and resources to choose from that promote their learning.'
'Children are exceptionally well prepared for their move to school or other early years settings. Staff actively promote children's understanding of letter sounds and numbers, and they learn to write their names independently. Children make outstanding progress in their learning and are highly confident'
'Staff skilfully extend children's imaginative play; they know when to let children explore their own ideas and when to provide help to challenge their learning'
'Children are very happy and settled; they share very close relationships with all staff'
'All children make excellent progress in relation to their starting points. They are exceptionally well prepared for the next stages in their learning and for school'
